Post-excavation monitoring took place over a five-day period in April 2000, following excavation of the town wall and immediate vicinity by Niall Gregory under the same licence (Excavations 1999, 286). The area monitored lies north-east of the town wall and measures 36m x 11m; a 1.1m depth of garden soil was removed down to the level of the undisturbed subsoil.
A 34m length of the south-east boundary wall between the development site and the adjoining convent playground was also removed. The surface level of the playground is 1.3m higher than that of the development site, where the ground has been artificially raised. No archaeological layers were uncovered.
