Monitoring of groundworks adjacent to Roscommon Castle was carried out to facilitate the insertion of a c. 120m section of ducting. The trench had a maximum width of 0.7m and an average depth of 0.8m. The exposed stratigraphy was made up of modern backfill, composed of light brown, silty sand with a moderate amount of stone. Inclusions consisted of modern domestic refuse and debris, plastic, glass bottles etc.
