The monitoring of a BGE feeder pipe was undertaken in February 2000. It passed through Carrickmacross in close proximity to an Early Christian ecclesiastical site, a Plantation castle site and a post-medieval bridge site. The trench was excavated mechanically underneath the roadway to a depth of 0.8m, and no archaeological features were recorded.
