An archaeological assessment was carried out at the site of a proposed bungalow and associated works at Teltown, Donaghpatrick, Co. Meath, on 12 April 2000. The site of the proposed development is located within the area of archaeological potential in Meath as identified in the 1994 County Development Plan. It is located north of a church site (SMR 17:31) and south of an enclosure (SMR 17:27).
Four test-trenches were excavated by machine within the proposed development. All revealed that natural deposits were present beneath the topsoil at an average depth of 0.3m. No archaeological features or deposits were exposed, and no finds were recovered. Consequently no archaeological deposits will be destroyed by the proposed development. No further work is required subject to the approval of DĂșchas The Heritage Service.
