Archaeological monitoring of a proposed residential dwelling with septic tank and percolation area was carried out at Monknewtown, Slane, Co. Meath, on 19 and 20 June 2000. An area c. 20m by 26m was stripped prior to the excavation of the foundation trenches by machine.
Monitoring of topsoil-stripping and the excavation of foundation trenches failed to reveal any evidence of archaeological stratigraphy. Therefore no further archaeological work is required for the proposed development to proceed as planned.
