Pre-development testing was carried out adjacent to the archaeological complex of Castleconnor prior to the proposed construction of a dwelling-house.
Tentative traces of low, poorly defined earthworks were identified just outside the zone of archaeological constraint, within the area earmarked for development. The dwelling-house was relocated away from the possible earthworks, and archaeological testing was carried out across the area of the proposed dwelling. Testing also took place along the line of the proposed access route, where a cornmill was designated on the 1848 OS map.
No evidence for archaeological material or subsurface remains of the later cornmill emerged during the testing.
