An extensive archaeological assessment by Edmond O’Donovan, Malachy Conway and the writer had been previously conducted on this site to determine the level at which structural remains, both medieval and 19th-century, survived (Excavations 1998, 143, 98E0250; Excavations 1999, 195–7 and 199). All structural remains were preserved in situ.
Ground was reduced to a level above the established height of the masonry. Thus none of the walls were exposed. No features of archaeological significance were revealed.
