A licence application had been submitted for monitoring of all groundworks associated with the proposed housing development at Templemichael, Caherconlish, Co. Limerick. Following approval by DĂșchas The Heritage Service, the developer was notified, and the site was visited on 8 July 2000. On arrival, it was discovered that approximately 70% of the site had already been stripped of topsoil and that two of the eight houses had already been built to floor level. The developer was instructed not to carry out any more digging on site, and DĂșchas was consulted on the matter. The remainder of the site was due to be monitored between 14 and 16 July 2000; however, the writer was informed by the developer that all groundworks on site would be deferred until further notice. The site remains archaeologically unresolved.
