Groundworks associated with the extension of a sheltered housing scheme at Coolaboy, Dromcolliher, were monitored between 14 December 2000 and 22 January 2001. The foundations for five separate units were dug during this time. A sequence of archaeologically sterile, fine, silty clay layers was superimposed on the surface of the pale brown, natural clay, mainly as a result of flooding from the nearby Ahavarragh stream. A limited amount of redeposited topsoil and some dumped stones and rubbish were distributed across the site. No archaeological features or artefacts were discovered.
