Two test-trenches were mechanically opened on 6 November 2000 in advance of demolition where subsurface ground disturbance was to take place. The trenches were 1.5m wide, and rubble was removed to a depth of 1.2m, where an old floor (c. 1980) was reached. As no disturbance was to occur below this level, no further digging took place in either trench. No features or levels of archaeological significance were noted in either of the trenches.
