Testing was carried out at Whitechurch, Co. Kildare, prior to the construction of a domestic residence. This testing was required because the proposed residence is in the field immediately to the south of Whitechurch church and graveyard. However, all structures including the driveway were positioned at a distance of over 50m from the boundary wall.
Six trenches were positioned in all areas of ground disturbance. There was no indication of any archaeological material in five of these trenches. However, a possible area of burning was identified in one trench, although no features or artefacts were associated with it that could positively determine its archaeological significance.
Editor's note: This report was formerly labelled 'Adjacent to medieval church and graveyard'.
