Monitoring of topsoil-stripping on the route of the N9 Realignment was carried out intermittently between 10 March and 26 June 2000. A Bronze Age cemetery at Moone was discovered and is reported in Excavations 2000 (No. 506). A series of archaeological investigations had been carried out on the proposed route at an earlier stage at Ballitore, by Hilary Opie, Excavations 1999, 119–20, 99E0202; at the Greese and Bothoge rivers, by Niall Brady, Excavations 1999, 133; and at Site 43, Timolin, by Thaddeus Breen, Excavations 1999, 137–8, 99E0203. No additional archaeological material came to light in the course of soil-stripping.
