Monitoring of all pre-development groundworks on a large site to the west of Maynooth town was requested owing to the identification from aerial photography of a possible deserted medieval village along the southern boundary of the site. To date, all groundworks carried out on approximately one-third of the site have been monitored, and in no area were finds or features of any archaeological significance uncovered.
The remaining area of the site will be monitored in 2001 when excavation of groundworks recommences.
