The townland of Moneycooley has one monument listed in the SMR, a deserted medieval village. This site was identified from a 1970 (CUCAP) aerial photograph; however, no traces remain above ground. Six test-trenches were excavated in the area where earthworks were formerly located. It would appear that all former banks have been completely obliterated through ploughing and the levelling of the field.
No finds or features were revealed in any of the test-trenches.
