Monitoring of trench excavations associated with the laying of a high-tension cable network at the Curragh Military Camp commenced on 8 November 2000. The monitoring is being undertaken in compliance with recommendations from Dúchas The Heritage Service, following a query from the Department of Defence. The cable is being routed along existing roads and through greenfield areas, at a depth of approximately 1m beneath the existing ground surface. No archaeological features have been identified to date. Monitoring will continue into early 2001.
