Archaeological excavation and monitoring took place at a development site of seventeen houses at Goat Street, Dingle, in the spring of 2000. Monitoring of a pipeline trench associated with the development, which went through some of the area of archaeological potential of the town, also took place.
The site occupied what may have been the north-western corner of the walled town and straddled the probable line of the wall to the south-west. Although full excavation of a portion of the town wall took place, no evidence of an earlier structure or defences below the line of the present boundary (a fairly unstable, high garden wall) was noted.
Nothing of significance was noted during monitoring of the development on the remainder of the site.
