The topsoil-stripping along this 3.5km stretch of roadway from Bealagrellagh to Gortatlea will probably not be completed until the end of 2001.
To date, a number of archaeological features have been identified and excavated under separate licences: a ring-ditch with associated pits (see Excavations 2000, No. 435) and a ditched enclosure (see Excavations 2000, No. 434), both in the townland of Gortatlea.
