The proposed development is located on the east side of the road leading from Athenry to Craughwell, adjacent to the medieval town wall. It involves the construction of two new apartments, and it was recommended that pre-development testing be carried out.
Three trenches were mechanically excavated. The layers present consisted of concrete and hardcore and a light brown garden soil overlying natural. No structural remains nor anything of archaeological significance was evident in the course of trial-trenching or monitoring.
