Monitoring of topsoil-stripping was undertaken to mitigate the archaeological impact of the widening and realignment of Fahan Road, in the townland of Carrowmullin, Co. Donegal. These works were undertaken on behalf of Donegal County Council in an attempt to coordinate the management of the archaeological resource during construction activities, in accordance with archaeological conditions attached to the grant of planning permission. The site lies within 20m of an ecclesiastical site and graveyard. Plant excavations were monitored on 17 July 2000. The excavations consisted mainly of topsoil-stripping, with slightly deeper excavations at the southern end to facilitate a crane base. There were no features of archaeological interest recorded on any part of the site during the monitoring of the excavations.
