Monitoring took place of the construction of a mobile phone mast for Vodafone at Moneymore, Co. Derry. The development was 7m x 7m and was situated at the edge of a circular enclosure site known from aerial photographs and just visible on the ground.
A portion of a steep-sided, flat-bottomed ditch 2m deep was uncovered. The far side of the ditch was outside the development area, but the approximate width of the ditch was in excess of 3m. The upper 1m of ditch fill was quite modern, suggesting that it had been backfilled/levelled in the last 150 years. The lower fill was very hard-packed and contained no artefacts. No other archaeological features were uncovered. A portion of a polished stone axe was found in topsoil.
