Monitoring took place of ground disturbance caused by the development of a dwelling-house at Ballymurphy, Kilfenora, Co. Clare. The development lies within RMP 9:13, an extensive archaeological complex that includes many ancient enclosures and field walls.
The stratigraphy consisted of c. 0.15–0.2m of a dark grey/brown loam topsoil underlain by c. 0.3–0.4m of light brown/orange clay with boulders. The boulder clay was underlain by shale bedrock.
No features were encountered nor finds recovered. It seems probable that the lack of archaeological features in this field is due to its having been used as a garden for so long. There are ancient field walls in the next field immediately to the east.
