The development encloses an area of some 65ha and is situated within the Mallusk and Ballywonard townlands, lying to the south-east of Glengormley. Monitoring in Phase 1A had already uncovered a short curvilinear feature dating to the Bronze Age (Excavations 1999, 4).
During monitoring of Phase 2B, a trough 2.3m north–south by 1.6m and an overlying charcoal spread 10m x 12m were excavated and represent the ploughed-out remains of a fulacht fiadh. This site was found approximately 200m north-east of the Early Bronze Age gully excavated in Phase 1A and may represent part of a larger Early Bronze Age archaeological landscape.
