Monitoring of all earth removal associated with the building of a house was carried out. The site was adjacent to SMR 12:59.
The entire footprint of the house and driveway was stripped of topsoil, which was on average 0.3m–0.4m deep. The topsoil was a mid-brown, sandy clay loam. It was homogeneous, and ploughing had clearly been carried out in the past. A piece of cut animal bone was recovered, but this was undatable. A fragment of post-medieval/modern pottery was also recovered. Subsoil was a mottled clay with gravel and sand inclusions. No cut features were evident. Foundation trenches were dug to c. 0.6m, and the septic tank was placed at the rear of the house. Nothing of archaeological interest was uncovered.
