The site is on the eastern shore of Lough Ennel, on the former estate of Tudenham Park in an area that was once below the present water level. It is close to recorded monuments 26:05201 'house' and 26:05202 'Castle Site', on a promontory called Inchacrone. The proposed development entails the building of an office, toilets and a pond as additions to an existing caravan park. Trial-trenching was carried out on 22 July 1999. A trench was excavated on the site of the proposed buildings, which measured 5m by 2m and exposed stony, white marl under 0.1–0.15m of topsoil.
As the development is to be carried out on what was once open water as shown on the OS 1837 map, it is unlikely to have any impact on possible archaeological remains. It was recommended that no work be allowed on the former island of Inchacrone.
