Four trenches were excavated within the Tanyard Arch carpark in Waterford City before the redevelopment of the area as a multi-storey carpark. The trenches were excavated to naturally occurring subsoil by mechanical digger. Some material of post-medieval and modern date was uncovered, in the form of walls and services associated with the previously existing buildings on this site. It was noted that, in a previous attempt to create a level surface across the site, which was on a hillside, the western portion of the area had been scarped, while the eastern portion had been deliberately raised.
Nothing of archaeological significance was found.
