Assessment by Paul Stevens (No. 828, Excavations 1999) had revealed the presence of potential archaeological features within a trial-trench, c. 5m from the bank of the ringfort that lay to the east. Because of this the house plan was adjusted and moved a further 3m from the ringfort, making the closest point 8m from the bank.
Potential archaeological features were revealed during the monitoring of the excavation of the foundation trenches, which were to be preserved in situ. A sub-ovoid feature measuring 0.99m north-east/south-west by 0.41m had a maximum recorded depth of 0.44m and was revealed within the foundation trench closest to the ringfort. Three other features were also revealed within this trench, though not further investigated: a subcircular feature 0.74m by 0.5m, a vaguely linear feature up to 0.42m wide extending beyond both section edges, and a small, subrectangular feature 0.48m by 0.26m. All contained deposits of similar colour and nature. No datable material was recovered.
Apart from a former field boundary bisecting the site, no other features were revealed.
