This site is on an island in the River Suir and was the site of an early 19th-century mill, now demolished. Three test-trenches were opened on the site. In two of the trenches rubble was revealed sitting directly above river gravels. In the third trench a deposit of black, silty clay was revealed above the riverine deposits. This could not be examined in detail because of the depth of the trench but is probably 18th- or 19th-century in date, i.e. directly pre-dating the mill's construction. Further monitoring is to be undertaken on the site.
