Four test-trenches were machine-excavated. Two were opened along the long axes of the front and rear of the new development, with a further two across the line of the building. Oil spillage in the area of the site, which was once used as a garage, badly contaminated the eastern end of the site. However, nothing of archaeological significance was noted.
