Following the preliminary archaeological assessment of this site, which is close to the Iron Age Doon of Drumsna, six trenches were opened using a mechanical digger, as part of pre-development testing.
Examination of the strata revealed no trace of any archaeological features, deposits or artefacts. The stratigraphy encountered was all natural. Trenching in the vicinity of the higher ground produced the same stratigraphy but with more rock. The natural deposits were less waterlogged and were undisturbed.
The site produced no evidence of man-made interference or archaeological deposits.
