Testing of a proposed residential development was conducted on 22 February 1999. The area of development was 500m to the east of the major ecclesiastical site of St Ciarán (SMR 5:4–28) and 200m south of the Nuns' Church (SMR 5:27 (01)). The monastic site of St Ciarán lasted from the 6th to the end of the 17th century. It was anticipated that the site may be along the line of the ecclesiastical enclosure.
Test-trenches revealed a shallow cut into natural, grey sand, which appears to be a late feature, as well as post-medieval to modern pottery and a fragment of animal bone of indeterminate age. No features or artefacts of an archaeological nature were found.
