Meath County Council commissioned an underwater inspection and metal-detector survey to be carried out along the southern shore of the River Boyne at the site of the proposed new bridge pylon for the Northern Motorway in Oldbridge, Co. Meath. The area surveyed extended from c. 15m upstream and downstream of the existing temporary works platform and associated access areas that continue east and west of the main platform. The linear area was c. 230m long. It reached out into the middle of the river channel, c. 30m from the natural shore and c. 15m from the toe of the working platform.
No archaeological features or finds were observed during the survey, which took place on 27 and 28 September.
