Pre-development testing was undertaken on the site of a proposed development of three houses in Rausakeera North, Kilmaine, Co. Mayo. Part of the proposed development site is inside the zone of archaeological importance for a souterrain. Nine test-trenches were excavated by machine within the site. They varied between 10m and 20m long, and all were 2m wide. In all, the sod/topsoil overlay natural gravel or boulder clay. No archaeological features or finds were recovered from any of the trenches.
