A one-day pre-development test excavation was undertaken at this site, which was not recorded as a monument but is 100m to the west of the smaller court tomb in Ballyglass excavated by Seán Ó Nualláin in 1968 and 1972. The site appeared as an irregular-shaped earthen mound with maximum dimensions of 14m by 19m and up to 1m high.
Two trenches revealed the mound to be redeposited gravel material with no clear structure or stratigraphy and no features such as a bank or surrounding ditch, and it was of no archaeological significance.
