Monitoring of topsoil-stripping for a proposed residential development was conducted on this site, which is at the bottom of the east slope of Faughart Hill, on which stands the significant Early Christian monastic foundation of St Brigid. It is close to two ringforts.
Stripping by mechanical excavation revealed sod and topsoil coming down directly onto shelly boulder clay at average depths of 0.15–0.3m. No archaeological features were exposed, and no finds were made.
