Monitoring was carried out during the excavation of foundation trenches for a store at the rear of 3 Dublin Street, Dundalk. The site is in the angle formed by Dublin Street and Anne Street, close to the junction of these streets with Park Street, and is within the area of the late medieval suburb of Upper End. The store had maximum dimensions of 5.5m x 5.5m.
Foundation trenches, 0.55m wide, were excavated to a depth of 0.45m throuch an existing concrete surface and underlying rubble fill. A deposit of dark grey silt with brick fragments and shells was encountered at a depth of 0.3m. A sherd of black-glazed earthenware from this deposit was datable to the 18th or 19th century.
