An assessment of a proposed residential dwelling at Castleblaney Road, Dundalk, Co. Louth, was carried out in May 1999. The site lies to the north side of the Castleblaney Road in the area of the Anglo-Norman settlement at Castletown.

Two trenches were excavated but did not reveal any archaeological deposits. The gravelly subsoil was exposed at an average depth of 0.4–0.5m below present ground level, and no finds or features were recovered.
