An assessment of a proposed commercial development was carried out at Bolton Square, Drogheda, Co. Louth. The site is just inside the northern town wall boundary on the north side of Bolton Square. This area of the town was probably not extensively settled during medieval times and was most likely reserved for industrial purposes.
The assessment involved the excavation of two trenches. They did not reveal any evidence of archaeological stratigraphy. Upon the removal of a concrete yard, boulder clay was exposed all over the site.
