The site was on the shoulder of a hill with views to the east and south and more restricted views to the west. The ground sloped upwards to the north. Pre-development testing was undertaken at the site using a ditching bucket, with two trenches excavated along the main axes of the proposed house. Monitoring of the subsequent soil-stripping of the site was also undertaken. Nothing of archaeological interest was uncovered, either in the test-trenches or during soil-stripping.
The site owner stated that a souterrain had been uncovered during the building of the existing house in the 1970s and that this had been recorded and filmed by staff from the Office of Public Works. Unfortunately, no record of this souterrain under this townland name could be found in DĂșchas, and no evidence of its existence was recorded during testing or monitoring. The site is adjacent to an area believed, according to local tradition, to have been a graveyard, although there is no surface evidence to support this.
