A pit was discovered during monitoring of topsoil-stripping along the route of the Ardee link road. Excavation took place from 2 to 4 November 1999.

The pit was subrectangular and measured 2.7m x 0.85m x 0.5m diameter. Much of the sides and base was scorched red. The pit was filled with two distinct deposits. The earlier was a dark brown, silty clay with frequent charcoal and burnt clay inclusions; the later was a mid-brown, sandy clay with frequent large stones. No finds were recovered.
