The site is in Rineroe townland, c. 12km south- west of Limerick City, near Adare, to the north of the present N20. The site was uncovered during archaeological monitoring of topsoil-stripping before road construction on the N20 Adare to Annacotty road scheme. A rescue excavation carried out over one week in August revealed three straight, narrow, parallel ditches, two of which were stone-filled. These were all interpreted as field drains, which were likely to be relatively modern in date.
