This potential archaeological site was first identified in 1995 before construction of the Croom Bypass. Subsequently, the client commissioned a topographical survey of the potential site, and the southernmost portion was archaeologically investigated by Colin D. Gracie, but it proved to be negative (Excavations 1997, 114, 97E0410).
Aegis was contracted to investigate the northern part of the site. Two trenches were dug by hand to investigate an area of high ground, in order to establish its archaeological merit. Neither of the trenches produced anything of archaeological significance, and the site was proven to be natural.
