Planning permission was granted by An Bord Pleanála for the construction of a telecommunications mast, associated buildings and an access road. The development site is on the south-eastern slopes of a peak known as 'The Pinnacle' and was covered with thin mountain peat. The development site is in the vicinity of a stone circle (SMR 49:95). Planning conditions imposed on the development required the presence of an archaeologist to monitor all excavation works.
No archaeological material was encountered during monitoring.
