A test excavation was carried out in November 1999 before the construction of a dwelling-house in a field adjacent to the surviving north-western quadrant of an enclosure. The cuttings revealed natural, grey sediment and limestone boulders beneath the topsoil. There was no indication in the cuttings of any material of archaeological origin.
