An assessment took place in January 1999 for a proposed development in the south-eastern sector of the medieval city, on the west bank of the River Nore. The development involves a rear extension on the site of the present garden. The assessment, which consisted of three parallel, linear test-trenches opened by hand, revealed no archaeological deposits or soils.
