During archaeological excavation of the site by Declan Moore (No. 390 Excavations 1999) a large linear ditch of possible Early Christian date and the base of an Anglo-Norman tower were recorded in the south-west corner.
An extension to the licence was granted to monitor construction foundation work for the building and to ensure that existing archaeological features remained intact.
A culvert comprising a cover of limestone slabs and a slate base was exposed for 9m of its length at the north-east of the site. It was 0.65m high and 0.4m wide. The side-walls were constructed of mortared cut limestone, and the culvert was surrounded by a loose stone fill.
The reinforced concrete foundation of a recent building was uncovered on the east half of the site. It overlay a large loose stone area of fill at its extreme north end and extended to the south boundary.
No further archaeological features were recorded.
