An archaeological evaluation was undertaken at a proposed development site at Glebe South, Old Kilcullen, Kilcullen, Co. Kildare, on 25 September 1999. The site is to the south-south-west of the Old Kilcullen ecclesiastical remains and adjacent to the postulated location of a gate associated with the medieval borough.

Five trenches were excavated by machine. Two distinct layers were uncovered. Layer 1, 0.24–0.32m thick, was interpreted as a topsoil layer. The sterile and undisturbed nature of Layer 2 indicated that it represented the 'natural' subsoil horizon.

No features, structures or finds of archaeological interest were uncovered during the evaluation, and it was recommended that no further archaeological involvement was required at the site.
