Most of this housing development had been monitored in 1998 (Excavations 1998, 98). However, the licence was reactivated in 1999 for the remaining portion of the site to be stripped and the development to be completed.
During the original monitoring, several circular pits that had been severely truncated had been discovered in the western quadrant of the site. These had been excavated, and five were found to contain minute flecks of burnt bone. Unfortunately, these remains were too small to be positively identified as human or animal. A small amount of charcoal was also recovered but was not from a secure context and so proved unsuitable for dating purposes.
During the second phase of the monitoring, nothing of further archaeological significance was encountered.
