Test-trenching took place here before the N21 re-routing. One trench was excavated by hand across the extent of the earthwork. The purpose of the trench was to ascertain whether the bank was flanked by ditches. No evidence for these was encountered.
A trackway was marked on the 1st edition OS map as traversing the field in question towards Maglass House. This track may have partially used this bank, as it is dry and raised above an otherwise wet and marshy field. It was found not to be of archaeological significance.
