Test-trenching took place here before N21 rerouting. One trench was dug by hand into the meandering earthwork, which measured almost 70m in total length. The trench measured 14m by 1m. The strata uncovered in the trench proved to be natural in origin, and therefore the earthwork was deemed not to be of archaeological significance.
