Monitoring of topsoil-stripping at Ballinasloe, Co. Galway, was carried out in May to June 1999. The proposed development involves the construction of an IDA Business Park and associated services on the Roscommon road in Ballinasloe. The development is close to recorded sites 74A:6 (rath/cashel), 88:8 (church/chapel) and 88:6 (church site).
Monitoring failed to reveal any evidence of archaeological material at the site. However, further work is to be carried out near the ringfort, and it was recommended that this be done under archaeological supervision.
